About Thread Wellness

A Dream Come True

Lauren and Cam met in their yoga training at Power Yoga Hawaii in 2012, having both arrived in Hawaii on an extended adventure to overcome personal trauma in their family lives.

Together, they developed a plan to one day launch a holistic wellness center.

They have since grown into leaders in the many communities in which they have had the privilege to thrive from Honolulu to Denver, to Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

The drive to help others runs deep in their shared mission.  Utilizing their own experiences with anxiety, trauma, addiction, tragedy and suicide to build methods of self-care has been crucial, not only to their own lives, but also to those of their clients.

Today, Thread Wellness is coming to fruition in Lauren’s home town of Ventura, California.

Rather than the physical space that they had mutually manifested so many years ago, Cam and Lauren are embracing both the traditional in-person environs of live yoga classes, workshops and events while also growing into the infinite possibility of online services.

Through yoga, movement, music and meditation, Thread Wellness exists to help others cope with the challenges of modern life, and it is the product of deep devotion from it’s creators.

About The Founders

Lauren Prendergast

I have been teaching yoga for nine years and practicing for fifteen, but what originally brought me to the mat was not what kept me there. I experienced an internal shift that became transformational in shaping who I am today.

Yoga for me became a conduit for connection to myself and the world around me. It helped me navigate through the difficult times, most notably with my anxiety and PTSD, leading me to the path I walk today.

Presently, I am certified a trauma-informed yoga therapist (C-IAYT) applying individualized yoga in a mental health setting at a trauma center in Southern California. I work as part of a care team, where my role is to bring yoga tools and resources to people suffering from trauma in order to help them ground, regulate their nervous system, and reconnect to their true selves.

My focus is to take all that I have learned through these experiences and to bring that into my life & professional practice to help my clients live a life of more ease and less suffering.

Cam Prendergast

I am a yoga teacher, personal trainer, health coach and freelance musician & DJ, and I’m proudly living a life of service and joy– and I seek to share my journey in hopes of helping others find their path.

I specialize in helping clients optimize their physical and mental wellbeing through foundational principles of yoga and functional strength training.  Specifically, I have a background working with middle-aged and older, injured or deconditioned clients.

My practice as a coach is directly tied to my creative life as a musician. My music practice is deeply intertwined with my spiritual practice as I seek not only to provide engaging, meditative music experiences, but also to help others understand that following your passion is the centerpiece to living a truly healthy life.  I would not be here today without this deeply personal method of expression.

For a more personal understanding of how I found my path, check out this blog post illustrating my own family’s journey through mental illness and addiction.
